NEUSTART is coming to an end – join us for the farewell reception

After two years of intensified Danish-German music cooperation, the Danish NEUSTART initiative has come to an end. We celebrate this with a talk, some music, and a get together at the German embassy in Copenhagen on January 24. Get in touch if you would like to join.

Over the course of the two years, a lot of new projects have launched. New residencies, songwriting-camps, visiting programmes for artists and music professionals, and new ways for Danish and German organisations to work together on sharing knowledge and networks. This is all to the benefit of music people in both countries and for a stronger cultural and professional connection between us. But the work is not done here. With the myriad of events, new partnerships, and new methods developed through the NEUSTART-initiative, the journeys have only just begun.

It is evident so far that working closer together over the border makes all the sense in the world. Denmark is a gateway to the Nordic region, and Germany is a gateway to mainland Europe. Both countries have immensely high quality music and creative environments, and immensely high ethics and standards of cultural practices. There are not only obvious synergies to working together – but also learning-perspectives and valuable differences that continue to broaden horisonts of awarenesses and knowledges.

From classical and experimental art-music to jazz, roots and folk and to commercially competitive pop music, there are bridges between Denmark and Germany that we can keep building and strengthening. The Danish organisations behind the NEUSTART-initiative are dedicated to continue working on these. As we now celebrate two years of joined, focused efforts, it is, more than an ending, a celebration of the beginnings we have managed to establish for the years to come. And we are looking forward to taking on continued work with the German partnerships we have developed.

The farewell reception is on:

January 24, 4pm-6pm – the German Embassy in Denmark – Göteborg Plads 1, 2150 Copenhagen

On this occasion we say “thank you for two years of new starts” and “welcome to a new long-term improved connection between Danish and German music scenes”.
